Heart For The Harvest: Lessons

God is trying to teach us some important lessons as we continue to grow. However, God is not a forceful teacher but one that is seeking individuals who are teachable and responsible. God through the Holy Spirit wants to teach us from His Word and our life.

As we have seen over the past few weeks, God has reminded us that He is on a mission and has been on mission to redeem the lost back to Him. This is where the local church comes into action. As believers, we are called into action and must respond faithfully to the command Jesus gave to the disciples found Matthew 28:19 where He called them to "go and make disciples." Jesus was reminding the disciples that there is a world that needs to hear of Christ's love, know the enemy is still in the world, and that time is running out. By commanding his disciples to leave their comfort zone, the light of God was beginning to disperse into the dark places of the world.

Here we are in Port Angeles, and if someone would not have listened and obeyed the voice of God to share the message of HOPE with you, you still would be trapped in your own darkness. However, you now have received the light and God is calling you and me to a place of dependence on Him and the Holy Spirit to do the humanly impossible. Holy Spirit is ready to lead the church into new areas and activities to reach more people with the gospel, that will lead to more people responding to the voice of God.

I believe that God wants to see His church grow which is done through His church. I know that it is hard to believe but the church with all its weaknesses is still the instrument that God uses to "build HIS church." William Carey, missionary to India, said, "Attempt great things for God and expect great things form God." What have you recently attempted? There is a battle that is raging in the land and the world. Now is not the time to sit back and relax. Now is the time to be prepared for the battle. The battle will come when you least expect it. The Spirit has gifted you. May you use your gift to be an effective soldier as you step out in faith.

As I wrap up this four week write up on "Heart For The Harvest" remember that God can and will bring victory out of defeat, your helplessness is God's opportunity, God never gives up on anyone, and God knows the way, and has the power. Stay sensitive to the Spirit and continue to seek the Lord of the Harvest to send out Harvesters into the Harvest.

Father today, I pray that you would give me a heart for the harvest. I know that you said that you would build your church but you have called and commanded me to be a partner in the process. I pray that you will send me to the dark places so I can shine your light. I pray that you give me strength and courage to speak with grace and truth. I thank you that you have equipped and empowered me to be your witness. May those who hear truth be responsive and turn back to you. In Jesus name, Amen.

Take some time to leave a note in the comments about your lessons you are learning and how God is using the lessons to reach others.

The Sacred Quiet: When Silence Speaks

It’s been a while. The pause wasn’t planned, but necessary. Life has a way of ushering us into valleys we never asked to walk through. Over the past few months, my family and I have been navigating one such valley, marked by the sudden passing of someone we dearly loved. It’s the kind of grief that presses pause on everything else. Writing, ministry, even the most basic routines—suddenly all felt heavier, quieter, slower. And in that sacred quiet, I’ve learned something: sometimes, silence is a teacher. Grief has a voice. It speaks in sighs, memories, and unfinished sentences. It also speaks in silence. I used to resist that silence, afraid that stillness might lead to stagnation. But I’ve come to believe silence isn’t the absence of God—it’s often the space where we most clearly hear Him whisper. A Season of Reprieve In our fast-paced world, taking a step back feels counter-cultural. But I’ve come to see that it’s deeply biblical. Jesus often withdrew to lonely places—not just to rest...
