Spiritual Formation: Intentional Giving

Intentional giving. Intentional giving is giving with purpose. It means that you are actively choosing to help make a difference.

When we hear about giving, many assume that the individual is talking about money. Ok, that is partly true. However, we can be intentional in giving of our time, energy, gifts, and finances to help make a difference in the lives of others. When we intentionally give our time, talent, and treasure, we are taking the step to engage people, equip lives, and create environments where every person has the opportunity to encounter God in a life-changing way.

As we continue moving forward in the new year, it is essential to plan how to help make a lasting impact across the street and worldwide.

Here is how you can plan to give that will make a difference across the street and worldwide.

Plan

First, plan to give. When you have goals and are diligent, it leads to plenty (Proverbs21:5). God is excited when you have a plan! Whatever the amount is—have the plan in place, work on the project and be obedient to it. Start there.

Vision

Next, ask God to give you a vision for what He could do through you with His help. This is beyond what you can do naturally with your time, talent, and treasure. This requires you to take a step of faith. Additionally, Habakkuk 2:2 tells us to write that vision down and pray about it! God will supply all your needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). Stepping out in faith pleases God. When you look at what He has in His hands, it goes to another level!

Dream

Lastly, what would be a dream amount of time and treasure you could give? Hold on to it. This number is only between you and God. Watch each step of faith you take, and God moves you closer to that dream. God can do exceedingly abundantly more than all we can ask for or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).

What if you stepped out with the intent to intentionally give? What if you actively chose to help make a difference with your time, talent, and treasure? Write it down.

The Sacred Quiet: When Silence Speaks

It’s been a while. The pause wasn’t planned, but necessary. Life has a way of ushering us into valleys we never asked to walk through. Over the past few months, my family and I have been navigating one such valley, marked by the sudden passing of someone we dearly loved. It’s the kind of grief that presses pause on everything else. Writing, ministry, even the most basic routines—suddenly all felt heavier, quieter, slower. And in that sacred quiet, I’ve learned something: sometimes, silence is a teacher. Grief has a voice. It speaks in sighs, memories, and unfinished sentences. It also speaks in silence. I used to resist that silence, afraid that stillness might lead to stagnation. But I’ve come to believe silence isn’t the absence of God—it’s often the space where we most clearly hear Him whisper. A Season of Reprieve In our fast-paced world, taking a step back feels counter-cultural. But I’ve come to see that it’s deeply biblical. Jesus often withdrew to lonely places—not just to rest...
