THANK YOU

When was the last time someone said “Thank You” to you? When was the last time you thanked someone? The month of November is all about giving thanks. It is the month we share all the things we are thankful for. What are you thankful for? Family, friends, spouse, kids, life, the ability to drive, or even your sight. Whatever it is you are thankful for, I would like to have you slow down just a bit to take a moment to look at the scripture from Psalm 119:62, “I rise at midnight to thank you for your just regulations.”

Do you wake up in the middle of the night overwhelmed with thanks? You rarely hear someone say, “my sleep was interrupted last night by my thoughts overwhelmed with thanks and appreciation toward God.” However, this is precisely what the psalmist was saying. Let me pause and say that we have many things to thank God about. Here are six things for which we can all be thankful no matter what time of day.

1.     Thank God for America

Though we all have our thoughts on how things should be and political stances, setting it all aside, I think we could all agree that we live in one of the most amazing countries on the planet. During November, take time to pray for this great country of America and pray the most significant days are in front of us.

2.     Thank God for the city you live in

No matter where you live in the states or even around the world, there will always be financial trouble, crime trouble, labor trouble, and race trouble. Friends, we need Christ now more than ever. Would you take a moment to pray for the lost and seek to point people to the Lord Jesus Christ? God has placed you strategically where you are. Now is the time to stop complaining and thank God for putting you in the city you live in.

3.     Thank God for those who are in your life

a.     Parents

b.     Children

c.     Teachers

d.     Pastors and leaders

e.     Friends and family

Take time this month to pray for each of those mentioned above. They have encouraged you and me and helped us in so many ways.

4.     Thank God for the home

Home should be the primary institution. It is where we learn how to socialize and live with others. The home is where our foundational education began. The home is where we learn our first things about God, prayer, or our foundational beliefs. Thank God for the home.

5.     Thank God for the church

Thank God for a church that has influence. A church that lifts the fallen, strengthens the weak, gives hope to the hopeless, and freedom to those still enslaved to sin. Take time this month to give thanks for the church.

6.     Give thanks to our Lord and Savior

Thank Christ, who offers forgiveness, redemption, an eternal home, and the Holy Spirit, who empowers us for daily living.

We are blessed people who need to express our gratitude by giving thanks.

What are you thankful for, and what would you add to the list?  Leave a comment.

Heart for the Harvest: Nurturing Faith, Gratitude, and Growth in Every Season

Photo by Darla Hueske on Unsplash As October comes to a close, ushers in cooler air and the landscape shifts with the colors of autumn, we’re reminded of the beauty and bounty of harvest season. In the Christian journey, having a “Heart for the Harvest” is an invitation to cultivate faith, gratitude, and spiritual growth that can lead to a bountiful life, even amid challenges. Just like a farmer prepares the fields, we’re called to sow, tend, and ultimately reap what God has placed within our reach. This post explores four aspects of preparing for a spiritual harvest: sowing seeds of faith, cultivating gratitude, weeding out negativity, and reaping the rewards of steadfastness. I hope as you read this post you will be encouraged as you continue your faith journey. Sowing Seeds of Faith Before any harvest, there’s the initial step of planting seeds. For us, these are seeds of faith, planted through daily choices, small acts of love, and moments spent with God. Jesus reminds us in the P...
