Scripture (S):
Psalm 1:1-3 (CSB)
“Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.”
Observation (O):
This psalm contrasts the ways of the righteous and the wicked. The righteous find joy in God’s law, avoiding the path of sinners. Their life is compared to a flourishing tree, symbolizing stability and productivity rooted in God’s Word.
Application (A):
For us, this encourages a deliberate focus on God’s Word. Just as a tree thrives by the water, our lives prosper when rooted in constant meditation on God’s teachings. Let’s consciously choose God’s ways over the world’s, finding joy and stability in His truth.
Prayer (P):
Dear Lord, help us delight in Your Word and walk in Your ways. May our lives be deeply rooted in Your teachings, bringing forth fruits of righteousness. Guide us away from worldly paths, and let our joy come from meditating on Your law day and night. Amen.
